Commonwealth Coast Football Athletes of the Week #7

Offensive Player of the Week

Peter Hoff, Western New England (So., RB)

Sophomore running back Peter Hoff (Shelton, Conn.) ran for a career-high 115 yards and two touchdowns in Western New England’s CCC Football opener against Endicott, a 41-14 win. One of Hoff’s scores came on a 49-yard scamper in the second quarter that gave the Golden Bears a 24-0 lead. He carried the ball 16 times, averaging 7.2 yards per rush.


Defensive Player of the Week

Mike Chirco, Western New England (Jr., LB)

Western New England’s Mike Chirco (Weedsport, N.Y.) had a team-high 11 tackles in the Golden Bears’ 41-14 conference win over Endicott. He also had one of his team’s five takeaways in the contest as he recovered a fumble.


Offensive Rookie of the Week

Sean Amaru, Curry (Jr., RB)

Junior Sean Amaru (Westwood, Mass.) averaged 7.9 yards per carry and scored three touchdowns in Curry’s 40-0 victory over Becker in CCC Football action. The first-year player rushed for 95 yards on 12 carries with scoring runs of four, 20, and one yards. His three scores were a career-high.


Defensive Rookie of the Week

Matt Messner, Salve Regina (Fr., LB)

Freshman linebacker Matt Messner (Midland Park, N.J.) was big in the turnover game for Salve Regina on Saturday (Oct. 14) afternoon. He forced a fumble and also have three fumble recoveries in the Seahawks’ 45-10 CCC Football victory over Nichols. Messner also recorded five tackles, including one for a loss.


Special Teams Player of the Week

Damond Davis, Western New England (So., W)

Kick returner Damond Davis (Springfield, Mass.) set the tone for Western New England’s 41-14 CCC Football victory over Endicott on Saturday (Oct. 14). The sophomore reeled in the opening kickoff and took it 90 yards for a touchdown giving the Golden Bears the early lead. He also had one punt return for nine yards.



Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) is a single-sport football conference operating under the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) umbrella. The league has been in operation since 1965 (formerly as the New England Football Conference (NEFC)). The league currently consists of six members – Becker, Curry, Endicott, Nichols, Salve Regina, and Western New England. Membership will increase to seven in 2018 with the addition of the University of New England. Husson will join the conference in 2019.
