Mancini, Quilty Earn AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, Two Other CCC Athletes Honored

AVCA ALL-AMERICA TEAMS | AVCA ALL-REGION TEAMS

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Four Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women’s volleyball players earned awards from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) this season. Top honors went to Endicott’s Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Roger Williams’ Molly Quilty (Duxbury, Mass.) who were both named AVCA Division III All-America Honorable Mentions.

Mancini and Quilty were also AVCA Division III All-Region selections for the New England Region. Their teammates, Zoey Gifford (Natick, Mass.) from Endicott and Lara LoIacono (Lynbrook, N.Y.) from Roger Williams, were both named AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention.


EMMA MANCINI, ENDICOTT – ALL-AMERICA HONORABLE MENTION/ALL-REGION

Mancini led the Endicott women's volleyball team to its second title in as many seasons. The outside has re-written the Endicott record books in 2017, setting program records for kills with 454 and a single-match record for kills with 29 in the team's 3-2 win over Tufts. Mancini also produced a 28 kill effort in the team's 3-1 win over Coast Guard which was the school record for kills in a four set match. For the season, Mancini leads the Gulls in kills, kills/set (4.17), hitting percentage (.266), points (510.5), and points/set (4.7).

MOLLY QUILTY, ROGER WILLIAMS – ALL-AMERICA HONORABLE MENTION/ALL-REGION

Quilty was an All-CCC First Team selection and has played strongly in the middle for RWU throughout the season. She led Roger Williams and the CCC in hitting percentage at .383 and blocks per set at 1.30. Her 93 total blocks is also tops in the CCC while she ranks in the top 20 in the conference with 196 kills.

ZOEY GIFFORD, ENDICOTT – ALL-REGION HONORABLE MENTION

As a sophomore, Gifford grabbed control of the team's primary setting responsibilities early in the season and never looked back, finishing with 923 assists for the season, including 265 in CCC play, good for a 10.60 assists/set average. Overall, Gifford averaged 8.79 assists/set and 2.46 digs/set as she has picked up 258 digs. Heading into NCAA Division III Tournament play, the setter has posted 12 double-doubles, including a season-best 45 assist, 19 dig effort in the team's 3-2 win over Roger Williams in the CCC Championship match.

LARA LOIACONO, ROGER WILLIAMS – ALL-REGION HONORABLE MENTION

LoIacono, also an All-CCC First Team selection, has been versatile throughout the season for the Hawks. Her .260 hitting percentage puts her seventh in the conference while her 238 kills ranks her 12th in the CCC. She also sits among the top 20 in the conference in kills per set (9th) and total blocks (12th).

The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), founded in 1984, is an NCAA Division III athletic conference comprised of ten full member and four associate member institutions throughout the New England region.
