GORHAM, Maine. – Eight men's and six women's Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Cross Country teams competed at the 2017 NCAA New England Regional hosted by Southern Maine at Gorham Country Club in Gorham, Maine on Saturday (Nov. 11).
Two CCC runners finished in the top 10 in the 8-kilometer men's race as Gordon's Damon Kilgore (Londonderry, N.H.) and Wentworth's Alex Robbins (Mansfield, Mass.) placed ninth and 10th, respectively. They were also the top two finishers at the CCC Championship two weeks ago. Both runners covered the course in 25:43. Robbins's teammate Patrick Hopkins (Lansdale, Pa.) was the only other CCC runner in the top 50. His time of 26:18 landed him in the No. 42 spot. Wentworth was also the top CCC team in the race placing 17th.
In the women's 6-kilometer race, the University of New England was the top CCC finisher at 17th. The Nor'easters' Emma Robidoux (Fairhaven, Mass.) was the first CCC runner to cross the finish line at 22:19 landing her in the 38th spot. She was the only top 50 finisher from the conference.
The NCAA Division III Championship will take place next week on Saturday, Nov. 18 in Elsah, Ill. Principia College is serving as the Championship host with the race taking place at North Farm Facility. The complete Championship field will be announced via press release on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m.
