Baseball

Other 2017 Baseball Athlete of the Week Winners

Player of the Week - Salve Regina sophomore second baseman Riley Fusaro (Nantucket, Mass.) collected four hits in a doubleheader sweep of in-state CCC foe Roger Williams, including a run-scoring walkoff single in the Seahawks’ 1-0 victory in the opener.  Earlier in the week, Fusaro notched two hits in a 7-4 victory over Framingham State. In three games for the No. 26-ranked Seahawks, Fusaro batted .667 (6-for-9) and posted a weekly on-base percentage of .727.

Pitcher of the Week - Salve Regina sophomore Will Ginsberg (Sharon, Mass.) was brilliant against perennial regional power Eastern Connecticut.  Ginsberg tossed five shutout innings, allowed just two hits, struck out eight and walked none.  He exited the contest with a 4-0 lead after five innings before eventually settling for a no decision in a 9-5 setback.

Rookie of the Week - Nichols freshman third baseman Christain Naccari (Ossining, N.Y.) batted .750 (6-for-8) with a stolen base and a run scored in three games for the Bison.  He collected a two-hit game at Clark and a three-hit game against Lyndon State.

Other 2017 Men's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Winners

Offensive Player of the Week - Senior attack Will Jennings (Danvers, Mass.) led the way in Endicott’s 10-8 CCC win over the University of New England on Wednesday (March 29). Jennings had seven points (six goals, one assist), while also collecting three ground balls. He took 16 shots in the game, putting 13 of them on-target for an 81.3 shots on-goal percentage.

Defensive Player of the Week - Junior Grant Thompson (South Hamilton, Mass.) backstopped Endicott to a 10-8 conference victory against University of New England on Wednesday (March 29). The Gulls goalie made 13 saves, while allowing eight goals. This resulted in an 8.00 goals-against average and a 61.9 save percentage.

Specialist of the Week - Freshman Harrison Levesque (Ridgefield, Conn.) went 31-for-49 (63.3 percent) at the faceoff X this week as Roger Williams picked up a pair of victories. Levesque was 8-for-16 (50.0 percent) in a conference win against Curry, while also collecting six ground balls. He followed that up with a 22-for-33 (66.7 percent) showing in a 20-11 non-conference win against Eastern Connecticut. He also had 17 ground balls in that game.

Rookie of the Week - Roger Williams goalkeeper Dolan Jones (Levittown, N.Y.) picked up his first two collegiate wins in a 2-0 week for the Hawks. First, he made 12 saves in an 8-6 conference win against Curry before making 13 stops against Eastern Connecticut in a 20-11 victory. Overall, he had a 59.5 save percentage and an 8.50 goals-against average.

Women's Lacrosse

Other 2017 Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Winners

Offensive Player/Rookie of the Week - Freshman Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass.) pitched in a career-high seven points to help Endicott take down the University of New England, 18-11, in CCC play on Wednesday night (March 29). Six of Lacroix’s points came as the goal scorer as she contributed one-third of the Gulls’ season-high 18 goals. She also set a new season high with 10 draw controls and caused one turnover.

Defensive Player of the Week - Endicott’s Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass.) made six saves and allowed just a single goal in just under 37 minutes of action for the Gulls. She held the University of New England scoreless through the first half and earned her second win in just her second career start.

Softball

Other 2017 Softball Athlete of the Week Winners

Player of the Week - Western New England senior catcher Corianna DeLisi (Tuxedo, N.Y.)  enjoyed a big day at the plate in the Golden Bears’ doubleheader sweep of Eastern Nazarene.  DeLisi batted .429 (3-for-7) with a triple, a home run, two RBI and a pair of runs scored.  On the afternoon, DeLisi slugged a mighty 1.143.  In the opener, DeLisi’s leadoff triple in the first inning allowed her to eventually score the game-winning run in a 2-0 victory. In the nightcap, DeLisi drove in runs with a solo home run in the third and a run-scoring ground out in the fourth.

Pitcher/Rookie of the Week - Western New England freshman Paige Uliase (Meriden, Conn.) spun a complete-game shutout over CCC rival Eastern Nazarene in her only outing of the week. In seven scoreless innings of work, Uliase scattered five hits, all singles, struck out four and did not walk a single batter. With the victory, Uliase improved to 4-1 on the season.

Men's Tennis

Other 2017 Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Winners

Player of the Week - Nichols sophomore Blake Norton (Stratford, Conn.) completed another undefeated week for the Bison winning all four of his matches as his team went 2-0. In a non-conference battle with Clark, Norton picked up a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles and also a thrilling 2-1 win at No. 1 singles. In that singles match, he won the first set 7-6 on a tiebreak (7-3) before dropping set number two. He was able to secure the win with an exciting 14-12 result in a super tiebreaker. Later in the week he picked up a straight set conference win at No. 1 singles and an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles in a match against Western New England.

Rookie of the Week - Freshman Guilherme Barbosa (Bradenton, Fla.) picked up wins at four different positions in a 2-0 week for Nichols. He locked up wins at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles as the Bison knocked off Clark in a non-conference bout. He didn’t drop a game in singles play during that match. He moved up to No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles for his conference match against Western New England and was victorious in both spots.
